Things have been crazy busy here since my last blogpost on my ‘Gypsy Horse’ shoot early this year, so a bit quiet on the blogging front! Exciting shoots to be released soon – from dark vintage ad campaigns, to bright summery editorials. Watch this space….

WOW, what a shoot! Where to start with this blogpost… its going to be a big one, featuring exclusive story, ‘Behind the Scenes’ pictures & video! ‘Gypsy Horse’ shot for American Magazine Giuseppina was full of wonder despite the freezing temperature! So much to share with you below:

*Story behind the shoot, written by fashion writer Eleanor Vousden*:

Photographer Tory Smith tells the story of Gypsy Horse; a romantic tale of two free-spirited bohemian gypsies, laden with layers of beautiful embellishment and rich textures, wandering the sun-lit plains on horseback.

London based photographer Tory Smith is inspired by the cultural influences in fashion – such as colour, pattern and embroidery. By combining it with a conceptual narrative, she creates truly beautiful photographs. She works directly
with a talented team consisting of makeup, hair and wardrobe stylists, models, committed family members (and in this case, two very well behaved horses!), who all helped to make the shoot happen.

Shot in the countryside of Gloucestershire, Smith captures the journey of two wandering souls in Gypsy Horse,
dressed in pieces from Irregular Choice & Masque Boutique. Taking the reigns of the chestnut horses, the models wear be jewelled emerald, aubergine and onyx , accented with ornate golden brocade. The full skirted dresses are cinched
in at the waist and layered for an authentic bohemian silhouette.

The spiritual mood continues through the embellishment, scattering around necklines in bursts of multicoloured
beading and sequins, harmonizing the layers of eclectic texture underneath. The looks are accessorised with swaying
fea thered earrings – perfect for true traveller chic. Winding plaits and glossy braiding crown the models’ hair beautifully, complementing the exuberant clothing and framing their sun-kissed skin. Soft, coral pouts and glowing cheekbones convey gorgeous, natural beauty. A look that any Gypsy Queen would be proud of.

The shoot comes together in a diverse mix of print and detailing, which offsets the idyllic scenery of the countryside, coinciding with the serene peace between the women and their horses. The story within the photographs holds as much intrigue, magic and beauty as the clothes themselves. A story of fashion, culture and wonder.

Had a great time shooting 1920′s Ritz for vintage boutique Revival Retro. My brief: to produce an image for an advert to promote Revival Retro at the Ritz Hotel, London. To create something beautiful, elegant to really startle the viewers..

The story is a celebration of the fashion and beauty of the roaring twenties… The shoot is based around the story of
two modern-day flapper girls, wearing gorgeous reproduction 1920′s dresses. A dark elegance, glitz, glamour and wonder of a bygone era is revealed for all to look on in awe.
