Front Cover of Professional Beauty

Work published twice this month! First in City A.M’s Bespoke Magazine, given out on London Underground & on the cover on Professional Beauty Magazine

Its always great seeing my work in print & even more exciting on the cover! In addition to having my work featured on the cover there is an exclusive cover feature on the shoot. See below the cover story explaining ideas, behind the scene insite to the shoot:

My Comment:

The perfect team, lots of colour & creativity are always key when storyboarding my shoot ideas. With the concept ‘Beauty Redefined’ in mind, I wanted to create a recognisable unique style and keep the shots fresh with lighting & composition

Illustration was used to accentuate the makeup and nails, adding an abstract edge to the photos. Was great working with illustrator Ben to bring the 60’s style to life with a sense of movement

Working closely with Mel & Meg to bring fresh creative ideas was great! As always, having a great team & fab model makes the shoot, thanks everyone!

MUA Comment:

As a creative team, myself, Tory & Meg wanted to take this trend and give it a sixties twist. Inspirations discussed varied from Twiggy to Lichtenstein and Paul Klee. We wanted to create a really strong range of images using just lines, dots and monochrome colours.

For this beauty story I really wanted to keep the full focus on the eyes, playing with shapes and textures to really play up and change the look of the eyes using only monochrome colours.

For the makeup I used varying products to create different shapes and textures on the eyes, kohl pencils, liquids, creams and powder liners and shadows from Mac Cosmetics. I wanted the lashes to really have that 60s over the top clumpy look, I used loads of mascara and Ardell Lashes.

To keep the focus on the eyes I kept the skin soft and flawless with soft contouring to really enhance to angles played with on the eyes. Lips were also kept neutral with a barely there nude and slight sheen using Embryolisse Baume Secours.

Nail Tech Comment:

Communication between artists is very important when we shoot editorials. As a nail artist, I often have to turn up to the shoot day, unfortunately without any details on what the shoot is about.

What I love about working with Tory and Mel is that we share our ideas a good few days before the shoot day and constantly update ourselves with the direction of the shoot.

In this story, nail art trends this summer, the design I wanted to experiment on editorials and Mel’s makeup idea matched perfectly.

After exchanging some references, it is so good to hear ” no worries, you do whatever you want” at the shoot. I needed to overlay 2 shades of pink to best match Mel’s makeup and the model’s skin tone. Everything was straight forward, the way they edited the images had a bit of twist, I love them.
